Professor Ru-Jin Huang, Principal Investigator at the Institute of Earth Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IEECAS), has been honored as a Fellow of the Asian Aerosol Research Assembly (AARA) at the 14th Asian Aerosol Conference, held in Mumbai, India, in December 2025.

The AARA Fellow award is a biennial recognition presented by the Asian Aerosol Research Assembly to distinguished scientists who have made significant and lasting contributions to aerosol science and technology, as well as to the advancement of the aerosol research community in Asia. Professor Huang received this prestigious honor in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the study of secondary organic aerosol formation mechanisms and haze pollution.

Professor Huang earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry from Xiamen University (2002, 2005) and his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Chemistry from the University of Mainz, Germany (2009). Prior to returning to China in 2015, he conducted research at leading institutions in Germany, Ireland, and Switzerland. He is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and has been elected as a Foreign Member of the Academia Europaea and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He has also received the Xplorer Prize and the Special Award of the China Youth Science and Technology Award.

His research focuses on atmospheric aerosol chemistry and its links to human health and climate change, with particular emphasis on organic aerosols in urban and marine environments and new particle formation. He has published over 260 SCI papers in journals including Science, Nature, Nature Geoscience, PNAS, and Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, and has been recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate and Elsevier.

This AARA Fellowship adds to Professor Huang's growing list of international accolades, further cementing his leadership role in atmospheric aerosol research in Asia and beyond.
